Ultrasonic heat meter with LoRaWAN communication

The Sensostar 6m3 150mm DN25 TempSensor Ø5mm LoRaWAN is an Engelmann SensoStar ultrasonic thermal energy meter designed for heating and cooling energy measurement in commercial buildings, larger residential installations and district energy systems. This configuration has a nominal flow rate of 6 m³/h, DN25 nominal diameter and a compact 150 mm installation length.

The meter uses ultrasonic time-of-flight measurement and can transmit meter data through LoRaWAN to a compatible LoRaWAN gateway, network server and energy-management or billing platform.

6 m³/h DN25 thermal energy measurement

This SensoStar U configuration combines a qp 6 m³/h ultrasonic flow sensor with a DN25 connection, G1 1/4B thread and 150 mm overall length. The ultrasonic measuring principle has no moving mechanical measuring parts in the flow sensor and supports installation in multiple orientations.

The meter uses Pt1000 temperature sensors and supports Ø5 mm probes. Thermal energy is calculated from the measured volume flow and the temperature difference between supply and return.

LoRaWAN is available as a communication option for the SensoStar U platform. The meter also includes an optical interface, LCD display and internal storage of historical measurement values.

Installation and connection

Install the SensoStar according to the specified flow direction and installation requirements for the heating or cooling circuit. Position the supply and return temperature sensors in the designated measurement points. For remote reading, commission the LoRaWAN communication and connect the meter to a compatible LoRaWAN gateway and network server.
