RS485 Modbus RTU communication module for SHARKY 775
The Sharky Modbus module (RS485) Modbus is an internal communication module designed to make measurement data from a Diehl Metering SHARKY 775 available on an RS485 Modbus RTU network. The module is installed inside the meter in one of the available extension slots and communicates internally with the meter to retrieve measurement data.
Meter values are transferred to external building management, SCADA, PLC or energy monitoring systems through a galvanically isolated EIA-485 interface. This makes the module suitable for wired integration where reliable Modbus RTU communication is preferred.
Modbus RTU data integration via RS485
The module operates as a Modbus RTU slave and supports reading measurement data through holding and input registers. Communication parameters including baud rate, parity and stop bits can be configured to match the existing RS485 network.
The RS485 connection uses terminals 90 (+) and 91 (-), and the supported EIA-485 bus length is up to 1200 metres when correctly designed and terminated. The module requires a separate 12–24 V AC/DC SELV power supply.

Installation and connection
Install the module in one of the extension slots inside the compatible meter and connect it to the meter using the specified internal ribbon cable. Supply the module from a 12–24 V AC/DC SELV source and connect the RS485 bus to terminals 90 (+) and 91 (-). Correct RS485 topology and termination must be observed. Installation and electrical connection should be carried out by qualified personnel with the supply disconnected.
